Richland Area Chamber reports surge of projects, highlights port authority, broadband and solar plans

The Richland Area Chamber and Economic Development presented a midyear update to the Richland County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 26, describing a spike in project activity, newly formed tools for development and workforce and marketing initiatives intended to sustain growth.
In a presentation to the commissioners and County Administrator Andrew Keller, Ellen Hines, CEO and president of the Richland Area Chamber and Economic Development, said the chamber helped create the Richland County Port Authority as “a vehicle” to catalyze development and that the port has approved two projects with more in the pipeline. Hines said confidentiality requirements prevent sharing full details until deals are finalized, but that several projects are advancing toward closing.
Hines noted regional outreach efforts, including a Team NEO (Northeast Ohio partner of JobsOhio) visit that she said drew praise, and said she was selected for the U.S. Chamber Business Leads fellowship. Donnie…
