Richland County commissioners appoint Brian White to mental health board

Commissioner Rivera moved to appoint White, who the commissioners described as a former mayor of Mansfield and a community philanthropist. The motion passed unanimously with Commissioners Rivera, Mears and Banks voting yes.
The board highlighted White’s background in public law, budgeting and management during the brief discussion. "His experience, his knowledge, he's a veteran. He's familiar with public law, open meetings. He knows budgeting. He knows managing. He is a, excellent choice for this seat," Commissioner Rivera said. White responded, "I just want to say thanks for considering me. It's an honor to serve, on this, board... Looking forward to it and, yeah, honored to serve."
The appointment fills a vacancy created by a resignation; the board designated the seat as a partial term expiring June 30, 2027. No additional conditions or follow-up actions were recorded in the meeting minutes.
The board moved on to other agenda items after the appointment vote.
