Representatives from regional partner organizations gave brief agency updates including staffing changes, a canceled tour and transit ridership figures.
PlanRVA staff said the Port of Virginia tour scheduled for September was canceled due to insufficient interest, and staff will monitor whether to reschedule. PlanRVA reported staffing changes: a long-time staff member, Janice, plans to retire after October and an active recruitment process is underway to fill her role; PlanRVA will also add an accounting manager, Elizabeth Oatman, who is scheduled to start Sept. 2. The authority’s packet and staff comments said the new hires will support financial management and the shared staffing arrangement with CBTA.
A GRTC representative reported an expansion of the microtransit zone in Powhatan and said ridership had recovered to over 12,000,000 annual trips, exceeding pre-pandemic highs (the pre-pandemic high cited was about 8,000,000). The representative also said shelter and bench installations continue across the service area.
Staff and members noted the changes and asked questions about timing and coverage while thanking long-serving staff for their service.
