Authority approves five VDOT standard project agreements for regional highway projects

The Central Virginia Transportation Authority approved a slate of five VDOT standard project agreements at its meeting, advancing reimbursement and administration steps for previously allocated regional highway projects.

The agreements cover: CBTA 34 (I-95/Route 10 interchange, phase 2); CBTA 49 (Route 288 southbound auxiliary lane); CBTA 51 (Route 250 and Route 288 interchange improvements); CBTA 54 (I-64 Exit 211 interchange improvements, with an updated schedule noted in the meeting packet); and CBTA 60 (I-64/US 60/VA 13 intersection improvements). Authority staff said each project had been allocated regional funds in earlier rounds of the regional funding process and will be administered by the Virginia Department of Transportation as they proceed toward construction and reimbursement.

Chad Parsons, CBTA staff, presented the packet and described the agreements as the next step to formalize the reimbursement process. A VDOT representative on the dais confirmed that VDOT would administer the projects and that maintenance of facilities already under VDOT ownership is expected to remain VDOT’s responsibility. The meeting packet included an updated schedule for CBTA 54 (Exit 211), which staff flagged at the start of the meeting for members’ attention.

A motion to approve the slate was moved and seconded from the floor and carried by voice vote; no roll-call tally was recorded in the transcript. The authority directed staff to proceed with executing the standard project agreements and to continue reimbursements as projects submit eligible expenditures.

Next steps described by staff include finalizing the SPA signatures and moving reimbursements forward as project invoices and schedules progress.
