Best Nails and Spa owners Dennis and Tammy marked the grand opening of their expanded Medina location at a ribbon-cutting hosted by the City of Medina on a date when the salon reported it will "officially open" tomorrow (date not specified).
City of Medina Economic Development Director Kimberly Marshall opened the event, telling the audience, "we are here this afternoon to congratulate Dennis and Tammy on the grand opening, Best Nails and Spa at their new location." Marshall said the owners chose to stay in Medina after outgrowing their previous space in Medina Shopping Plaza and described the new salon as "absolutely stunning."
The city presented a formal proclamation recognizing the salon's expansion and listing the services the business offers, including manicures, pedicures, gel nails, acrylics and nail art. Mayor Dennis Hanwell read the proclamation on behalf of the Medina City Council and placed the city seal on the document.
Representatives from other levels of government attended or sent messages of support. State Representative Sharon Ray offered congratulations in person. Ray Paletta, speaking on behalf of U.S. Congressman Max Miller, congratulated the owners and praised their commitment to the local district. The Board of County Commissioners provided a signed certificate for the occasion, and the Ohio Senate sent a resolution honoring the ribbon cutting.
City staff said media and marketing materials will be provided to the salon: Jared Fry of Medina TV will supply video from the event, and the city's marketing director will supply still photos for the owners' use. Several city council members attended in support; three of seven council seats were represented at the ceremony.
Owners Dennis and Tammy thanked city staff, customers and the contractors and lenders who helped complete the expansion. Dennis singled out Dan Gaddish (construction) and Michael Connelly (KeyBank) for assistance during the build-out.
The ribbon-cutting was ceremonial; no council actions or votes were taken at the event. The city said the salon will serve customers starting tomorrow, with the exact opening date not specified in the meeting transcript.
