The Town of Wayne Select Board voted 5-0 on July 15 to revise the board’s bylaws, adopting the right-hand (streamlined) version of a two-column draft presented at the meeting. The board directed staff to post the new bylaws online and bring printed copies for signatures at the next meeting.

Board members said the right-hand draft was clearer and easier to read than the older text. “The right-hand column is a little more concise and clear,” said Henry (Select Board member). The board also discussed the option to accept shaded edits shown in the right-hand column but concluded the right-hand draft represented the updated language they preferred.

The adopted changes were described as stylistic and not meaningfully substantive by members who reviewed both drafts. The board asked Shannon (Town Manager) and staff to make the agreed edits and move the document from the ordinances section of the town website to a policies area.

The board’s vote concludes a multi-meeting review of the bylaws; members asked staff to ensure the posted document reflects the final, signed version. The board said it will sign printed copies at the next meeting.
