The Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning Board of Trustees authorized the University of Southern Mississippi to transfer $2,047,425.77 in excess funds from the Reed Green Coliseum roofing project to other repair or renovation work on the Hattiesburg campus, after staff cited state-authorizing language.
Doctor Pierce told trustees that USM requested authorization to move $2,047,425.77 from the roofing project for use on other campus systems or buildings. The request, Pierce said, was submitted under the requirements of section 8 of Senate Bill 2049 of the 2025 First Extraordinary Session; legal staff reviewed the request and found it compliant with applicable law. Board staff recommended approval and the board approved items 1 through 3 on a grouped motion.
Trustees recorded affirmative votes on the grouped motion during the roll call; the meeting transcript shows no recorded dissent. The board’s legal review was cited prior to the vote. No additional conditions or reporting steps were described in the meeting transcript beyond staff recommendation and legal review.
