The West Rose School District Board of Education voted July 30 to award a contract to Big Bear Roofing to replace the roof on the district's 17 Selma Building.
Jacob Myers, a district staff member who presented the item, said the district used its preventative-maintenance vendor, Waterproofing Technologies Incorporated, and cooperative purchasing to solicit bids and is recommending Big Bear Roofing to complete the work. "We're recommending Big Bear Roofing, to complete that project," Myers said. "It will be paid for through capital projects dollars. So through our regular maintenance and operation of the district funds. We anticipate that to cost about $70,000 with an additional $7,000 in contingency."
The board approved the recommendation during the meeting after a motion to award the contract; a board member moved the motion and a second was recorded. The presiding officer called for the vote and the motion carried. The record shows no amendments to the funding or scope during the meeting.
Board discussion before the vote was limited to the staff presentation; no public comment was recorded on the item. The district said the project will proceed under its standard capital-projects and maintenance-and-operations funding lines. No construction start date, contractor schedule, or warranty details were provided during the meeting.
The 17 Selma Building is described in the staff remarks as being "across from Central Office." The contract award is limited to the scope and contingencies outlined by district staff during the presentation; any subsequent contract documents or change orders were not discussed or approved in open session at this meeting.
