Julie Gray, director of Merry Safe Haven, introduced Crystal Green, a past resident who testified to the fiscal court on Aug. 1 about her experience receiving treatment with a NET device.
Crystal Green told the court that she had been clean for three years before a relapse in February and that she received treatment with the NET device in April. "Ever since I've done it, I haven't had any cravings," Green said. She said the treatment "took that brain fog away" and described the change in her mood and functioning: "I feel like a different person... I had a lot of depression at that time too... it's gone also." Green said she also participates in drug court and is scheduled to graduate from the program in August.
Gray said the county provided some financial support for NET device treatment and that Merry Safe Haven includes education about the device in its programming. "Crystal is a past resident of Merry Safe Haven. She's recently received the treatment of the NET device. She's also a participant in drug court," Gray said when introducing Green.
Why it matters: The testimony offers a patient perspective on a treatment the court has been funding for some residents through court or program support. The court praised Green's recovery progress and thanked Gray and Merry Safe Haven for their work.
No formal court action was taken based on the testimony. Court members expressed appreciation for Green's willingness to speak and for the organizations involved.
Ending: Court members encouraged continued support for treatment programs and thanked Green for sharing her experience.
