At the July 31 meeting the North Hills Board of Education added several education items to the legislative agenda covering curriculum revisions, dual-enrollment agreements, and grant-funded program support.
District staff reported that in June teachers completed work on approximately 115 courses — edits, revisions or new course proposals that totaled about 1,500 curriculum hours. The district also reminded the board that statewide PSSA and Keystone assessments will be administered digitally in 2025–26 and that a math task force will meet Sept. 8 to review last year’s data.
The board added and approved dual-enrollment agreements with Community College of Allegheny County, La Roche University, Robert Morris University, Seton Hill University and the University of Pittsburgh. Two other college agreements (Carlow and Point Park University) were in place from two-year agreements signed last year and did not require new signatures this year, the district said.
The board also approved several grants and donations to support programs: a KD Quiz grant funded by GBU Life for $2,500 to support the high-school gifted program; a $10,000 EITC (Educational Improvement Tax Credit) donation from Peoples Security Bank and Trust to purchase iPads for a K–8 technology refresh; and a $3,000 donation from Parents as Allies to McIntyre Elementary to support a pizza-and-popsicles event and family connection activities for incoming kindergarten families. The board noted there is no negative budget impact for the Parents as Allies donation.
Board members voted to add education items 3 through 8 to the legislative agenda and approved them by voice vote. The district will execute the dual-enrollment agreements and proceed with the grants and donations per attached documents.
