Sheriff Mark J. Daniels described an armed home invasion during a KWCD interview and credited coordinated work by deputies, the Arizona Department of Public Safety and Sierra Vista police for quickly identifying and arresting two suspects. “They were able to identify this suspect and the male suspect, at Westwood Village Apartments,” Daniels said, adding that both people were taken into custody.
Daniels said the suspects allegedly forced an occupant into a bathroom during the incident, demanded money and caused property damage; investigators executed additional search warrants and recovered evidence. “They're only charged with armed robbery, but additional charges are pending,” he said.
The sheriff praised interagency cooperation and the local major crime team’s response; he also said he met with the county attorney to ensure prosecutors will pursue violent offenders. “We're working hand in hand to ensure that if you're gonna commit violent acts … we're gonna hold you accountable,” Daniels said.
Officials reminded residents about the legal right to defend oneself in the home under Arizona’s castle doctrine but cautioned against using excessive force. The sheriff framed the arrests as an example of local agencies sharing jurisdictional resources to solve violent crimes and urged public confidence in the criminal-justice response.
