The North Hills Board of Education on July 31 ratified a resolution authorizing the district to apply for funding through the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Multimodal Transportation Fund and committed a 30% local match for slope stabilization work at Martarelli Stadium.
District staff said the total project estimate is $349,835 to cover slope excavation, stabilization and erosion-and-sediment controls. The proposed grant would cover 70% of the estimated cost ($244,569); the district will commit $104,816, to be taken from the capital projects fund, as the 30% local match should the grant be awarded.
The resolution (2025-03) formally authorizes the district to file the grant request with the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and designates Dr. Mannarino and Mr. Muth as officials authorized to execute grant documents. Board members voted to add the grant resolution and matching-funds commitment to the legislative agenda and approved the action.
If the grant is awarded, contract procurement and construction scheduling would follow standard public-works procedures; the district noted the capital projects fund appropriation is the planned local funding source. The meeting record states the board ratified the grant request and the local-match commitment.
