Board member Levi Jones told the Logansport Board of Public Works and Safety on July 30 that the city is receiving ongoing complaints about residential trash service and that the city is preparing to switch haulers on Nov. 1.
Jones said residents should continue to report missed pickups; staff are pursuing direct discussions with Republic, the current contractor, and the city is evaluating options to accelerate a planned changeover to a new provider, Guaranteed, if service problems are not fixed quickly.
"We are switching to a new provider, Guaranteed, on November 1," Jones said. "We're exploring other options for accelerating that if the issues with Republic are not adequately addressed very quickly."
Jones told the board the city is discussing billing arrangements with Republic and said officials are addressing service failures directly with the company. He asked residents to keep reporting problems on their scheduled pickup days so staff can track incidents.
No formal motion or vote was taken on the issue during the board meeting; the comments were made during board member remarks and flagged as ongoing discussions between staff and the city council.
Board members said the city will continue monitoring service levels and that staff may return with recommendations or contract actions if missed pickups continue.
