Taylor Sewer District seeks members as proposed campground and truck stop raise hookup questions

Staff described development prospects that could affect the district’s service needs. A developer proposed a campground near the bypass and discussed options including a private lift station because connecting dozens of individual lift pumps would be expensive. "Possibly, he would get his own lift station for that campground because trying to put, you know, 50 lift pumps would just be astronomical," staff said. Staff added the campground purchase and city overlay zoning could still affect whether the project proceeds.
Separately, staff said there was informal notice of interest in a large gas/truck stop near the 26 and 31 intersection; such a facility would need sewer service if built and could provide another revenue stream for the district if it connects. Staff cautioned the project’s zoning and overlay restrictions may affect feasibility.
Staff also reported the district had circulated a contractors list and contact information after constituents reported difficulties reaching a contractor or district contact; the email list was intended to provide an alternate number for residents seeking to connect systems. No formal board actions or votes were recorded at the meeting.
Staff said they will continue recruitment for the district board and will monitor proposed developments that could affect sewer infrastructure and capacity.
