Pueblo County commissioners on July 15 approved a contract award to ProAV LLC for audio‑visual (AV) equipment at the county’s new detention center, following an invitation‑for‑bid process that drew three responsible bidders.
Dave Zupan, senior project manager for the detention center, told the board the selected bid was the low responsive bid and was approximately $313 lower than the second‑lowest responsible bidder. ProAV’s bid was substantially below the project’s conservative furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) line‑item estimate; Zupan said the award came in at about 49% of the FF&E estimate.
Zupan said ProAV has previously worked with the sheriff’s office on several occasions and is familiar with the agency’s AV needs. When asked where ProAV is based, Zupan replied that ProAV is based in Pueblo. The other bidders included a Denver‑based firm and one national bidder.
Commissioners praised the procurement for saving money and for selecting a Pueblo company. The board approved the item by voice vote and the chair declared the motion passed.
Zupan said the project team designed infrastructure to include AV needs in the cost of work and that the successful bid should help the project remain under the conservative FF&E budget.
The resolution approved the contract award and authorized staff to proceed with procurement and installation of the specified AV equipment for the detention center.
