Allen County commissioners on June 6 approved a warranty deed tied to the Dunkleburg sidewalk project, county staff said, advancing plans to construct roughly 1.5 miles of sidewalk to improve pedestrian access to Wayne High School.
A county representative described the project as constructing about a mile and a half of sidewalk from roughly Bluffton Road east to Wayne High School to address student pedestrian traffic along the road edge. The staff member said the next phase would start right away with property acquisitions along Winchester Road to connect Lower Huntington Road to Wayne High School and that officials hope to bid the next phase next year.
Staff said the current phase may be bid in the fall with a possible spring completion date. Commissioners moved and seconded approval of the warranty deed; the motion carried by voice vote.
