The planning director presented year-to-date permit figures: “We are now at a total of a 163 building permits, a 139 electrical permits, 53 HVAC permits, 47 plumbing, 36 certificates of occupancy, 30 demo, for a total of 468 permits issued. Total fees collected are at $104,159.09.” The director said June revenue was higher primarily because a commercial apartment complex generated larger fees.
On transportation, staff said the county's DIMTIP (the four‑year transportation plan) has been approved in the county's supporting document but is awaiting final approval in the state document; staff reported they are “anticipating this document being approved by August 15.” The office is also updating the Public Transit Human Services Transportation Coordination Plan, required every five years; staff said the update includes an evaluation of economic and demographic conditions, a public survey, stakeholder meetings and an inventory of existing public, private and nonprofit transportation providers. The director said a steering committee meeting for the transit plan was held immediately before the board meeting with eight or nine attendees.
Staff announced a special Plan Commission meeting to hear a proposed solar ordinance on Aug. 12 at 6 p.m. at the Justice Center, 3100 South Tillotson Avenue; doors will open at 5:15 p.m., and anyone wishing to speak must sign up before the meeting. The office also reported work on a draft pond ordinance requested by the commissioners and other offices; staff said the draft will undergo legal review before presentation to the commissioners.
On accessibility, planning staff reported the county is updating its ADA transition plan covering eight county‑owned buildings, using a consulting firm that completed inspections; a public input meeting has been held and another public meeting is scheduled. The director said the office will submit annual reports to the state and provide a grievance procedure and survey materials on the county website.
Staff also introduced a draft update to the BZA rules of procedure for board review; the director said adoption must occur at a regular meeting and that a special meeting could be scheduled for discussion.
No formal board action was taken on these reports; the items were informational, and staff requested public participation where noted.
