Trustee Marshowska (1 50 committee) outlined Riverside’s sesquicentennial schedule for August: a slow-roll ride departing the train station at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8; a family-friendly festival in Guthrie Park on Saturday, Aug. 9 from 1–4 p.m.; and an evening ticketed sesquicentennial soiree on Aug. 9 at the train station featuring the Brian Patti Orchestra with music that will also be audible in Guthrie Park.
The festival is sponsored by local businesses and community partners including Dig Right In Landscaping, Sen. Mike Porfirio, Riverside Bank, Riverside Chamber of Commerce and Riverside Swim Club, and supported by many community groups providing free games and activities. Sponsors for the soiree include Rory Dominic Realty, Heitzman Funeral Home, Jeff's Auto on Quincy, Riverside Junior Women and others; in-kind sponsors include Arras Brewery and Cider House and Riverside Foods. Parks and Recreation will host a supervised “popcorn, pizza and pajama” party for children ages 5–10 during the soiree (registration required).
Trustee Marshowska and other trustees emphasized volunteer contributions and encouraged residents to sign up via the village website. The village also noted the farmers market and other lead-up events through August.
