Council approves 36-month Stryker service agreement to extend warranties on eight EMS units

The El Campo City Council approved a 36-month service agreement with Stryker on July 28 to extend coverage for eight EMS units. City staff said most of the department’s major equipment is Stryker-manufactured and that the extended warranties were necessary for units approaching typical service life. "This is just extending the warranty on some of our older stuff that we have. So 8 units need some type of extended warranty," a staff member said. Staff said the purchase will be paid from increased billing revenue in the current budget and that the contract exceeded the city manager’s approval threshold, which is why it came to council. When asked how long the units typically last, staff said roughly 10 years; council members noted a three-year extension would keep coverage within that expected service life. A council member moved and the council approved Resolution R2025-40 to execute the three-year service agreement.
