Parks staff preview summer events, Bay Beach ride outages and Triangle Hill utility bid

Parks staff briefed the committee on summer programming and several operational items and asked the committee to receive the report and place it on file.
Staff encouraged attendance at the Light Memorial Park kiddie carnival and noted multiple family-oriented events across parks, including slip-and-slide and movie-night programs on Aug. 8. The committee also discussed the scheduled dual neighborhood events at Perkins and John Muir parks.
Alder Presley raised concerns after a recent visit to Bay Beach where several rides were not running; staff said the Sea Dragon remains out of service and the Lehigh-side train ride is still under construction and that staff will investigate which rides were inoperable on the reported date and report back.
On Triangle Hill, staff reported they received final construction plans for utilities only after reworking bid documents because initial bids for a garage exceeded available budget; staff expect to advertise the utilities-only bid shortly and aim to install utilities before winter so equipment storage or hauling solutions can be arranged for snow-machine operations.
The committee voted to receive and place the staff report on file; the next meeting was scheduled and the committee adjourned.
