The Improvement Services Committee on July 30 received reports of two contract awards for sewer work.
First, the committee received notice that the mini sewers contract (SEWER 3/25) was awarded to Highway Landscapers for $369,500.95. Staff said they had solicited bids and the low bidder met procurement requirements; the committee received and placed the award on file.
Second, the committee received the award report for CITYWIDE SEWER REPAIRS (SEWERS 02/25), which staff said had a single bidder, DeGroote Incorporated, with a bid of $1,442,702.99 — a figure staff reported was nearly identical to the city’s estimate. Because the lone bid aligned with the estimate, staff recommended and the committee received the award and placed it on file so the contract can proceed toward execution.
Committee members recorded the items as received and placed on file; both awards will be reported to the full council as required by city procedures. Staff said work on some sewer projects is expected to start in late August or early September once contracts are in place.
