CEC 25 elects officers at annual meeting; Eden Rubinstein chosen president

Community Education Council District 25 convened its annual meeting and elected officers by roll-call vote after opening the meeting at 7:41 p.m. Council member Eden Rubinstein, who convened the meeting, read Article 2, Section 2 of the council bylaws and explained that a candidate must receive at least seven votes to be elected.

Eden Rubinstein was elected council president for the 2025–2026 term in a roll-call vote. Shirley Lee was first elected to serve as chair pro tem to run the remainder of the election meeting and was later elected first vice president. Fabiola Abraham was elected second vice president. Shauna Williams was elected treasurer, and Stephanie Collado was elected secretary. Each of those offices was filled by roll-call vote with the members present voting in the affirmative during the meeting.

Rubinstein read the rules for the election process and noted that nominees could self-nominate, make a two-minute statement, and that positions are voted on one at a time so unsuccessful candidates could run for later offices. "To be elected, a candidate must have at least 7 votes," Rubinstein said while explaining the threshold required by the bylaws.

Several nominees spoke briefly to the council before votes. Shirley Lee described this as her third term on the council and said she wanted to "help more" and support families and students in the district. Fabiola Abraham and Shauna Williams offered short remarks about their interest in the respective roles; Stephanie Collado noted her background as a PTA secretary and said she hoped to apply that experience to the council secretary duties.

The council followed established procedure for roll-call voting; members present recorded their votes for each office. The meeting then transitioned to the business meeting after the officer elections concluded.

The annual officer terms were noted as one year, with officers remaining in their posts until successors are elected.
