The Pierce County Council unanimously approved the consent agenda July 22, which included appointing Ashley Mangum to the county Birth Advisory Board. The consent agenda passed on a 6-0 roll call vote.
The appointment matters because advisory boards inform county decisions on maternal and child health programs and community-based services for families. Mangum attends the meeting and briefly introduced herself to the council before the vote.
Mangum identified herself as director of Kids Mental Health Pierce County, a local coalition that started in 2018 to coordinate behavioral health services for school-aged children. “I’m really excited for the opportunity to give back to the community that did so much for me,” Mangum said during her brief remarks to the council.
The consent agenda included one set of minutes, two appointment resolutions and the Mangum appointment; no members requested items be pulled for separate consideration. The clerk called the roll after public comment on the consent agenda produced no speakers, and the council recorded six ayes and zero nays.
No formal committee or additional report was requested during the meeting; the appointment proceeds as an administrative appointment to the Birth Advisory Board and will be processed by clerk staff.
