The council also confirmed that watercraft using electric trolling motors not exceeding 55 pounds of thrust are permitted, while larger electric motors and gas engines remain prohibited on Lake Victoria because of its size. Staff said the amendments are wording clarifications rather than substantive new permissions and that the city will continue to require permits from the city clerk for special events where alcohol is served.
