Council approves $25,000 boost for employee separation payouts

The Floyd County Council approved an additional $25,000 in the general fund on June 10 to cover payouts for employees separating employment.
A county staff member said the line was created for payouts to long-term employees who qualify for separation payments and that multiple long-term employees retired earlier in the year. “So we are asking for an additional 25,000 to make up a current deficit and be ready for 2 that we are aware of that will be retiring by the end of this year,” the staff member said.
