Board signs letter of support for GC Wynne/Headwaters collaboration grant request

Grand County commissioners unanimously approved a letter of support for a Bureau of Land Management grant application from GC Wynne and partner Kremmling Valley Restoration Collaborative (KVRC).
Water-quality manager Catherine Morris said the $500,000 grant, requested over five years, would pay for a full-time program manager for GC Wynne, database maintenance and a project coordinator for KVRC. The partners plan to use project data to drive restoration selection on public lands; Morris said GC Wynne already houses BLM data and that the grant requires no county cash match or county funding.
Commissioner comments in the meeting highlighted that Grand County is heavily impacted by trans-mountain diversions and that the proposed work ties into wildfire and watershed priorities. The BOCC approved the letter of support and directed staff to sign it for inclusion with the grant application.
Morris and staff did not provide an award timeline in the meeting and said they would supply that information when available.
