Grand County approves 2024 audited financial statements; auditors issue clean opinion

Grand County Commissioners on Tuesday approved the county's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for fiscal year 2024 following a presentation by auditors from Henkel & Company. The audit partner reported unmodified (clean) opinions on both the financial statements and the single-audit compliance report.
Timothy Ajo Pelto, engagement partner for Henkel & Company, summarized the audit approach and told commissioners the team performed planning, tests of details and analytic procedures. He said the firm found no corrected or uncorrected audit adjustments, encountered no significant difficulties, had no disagreements with management and met independence requirements.
Finance Director Alina Bell and staff provided the report to the board and noted printed copies will be produced and the report posted on the county website. The auditors praised county staff for timely support and for improvements in internal control documentation.
Following the presentation, the board moved to accept the audited CAFR and noted the report was Curtis' last financial report in his role (staff thanked outgoing staff). The BOCC approved the CAFR by motion and authorized distribution and filing as required.
