Commissioners, acting as liquor authority, approve Peak to Peak festival permit and four local license renewals

The Gilpin County Board of County Commissioners convened as the Local Liquor Licensing Authority and approved a special-event liquor permit for the Peak to Peak People's Festival and three annual liquor-license renewals and one special-event renewal, each by unanimous 3-0 votes.

Sahari McCormick presented the special-event application for the Peak to Peak People—s Festival, scheduled for Sept. 20 at the Gilpin County Community Center. McCormick said the application was published in the Mountaineer and posted at the Community Center and that no public comments had been received. Event coordinator Greg Petty and Parks and Recreation Director Gabrielle Chisholm were present. "The application is complete. All requirements have been met, and I, therefore, recommend approval," McCormick said.

Commissioners confirmed that alcohol service would remain within mapped boundaries, that the event would serve beer and wine from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., and that extended setup and logistics were included in the application. Commissioner Hollingworth moved to approve the special-event liquor permit and the motion passed 3-0.

The board then considered three annual license renewals: Basecamp Brews LLC (doing business as Pickle Liquors at 661 Highway 46), Underground Liquors (15107 Highway 119), and Blackhawk Development Corporation (doing business as Coyote Liquors, 5312 Highway 119). Sahari McCormick recommended approval of each renewal, noting that Sheriff—s Office background checks and zoning compliance were clear and that fees had been paid. Commissioners approved each renewal by voice vote, 3-0.

In approving the permits and renewals, commissioners recessed as the board and convened as the Local Liquor Licensing Authority for the public hearing required for the special event, then reconvened as the Board of County Commissioners after completing licensing business.
