The Flandreau City Council approved partnering with Missouri River Energy Services (MRES) to accept sponsorship funding and directed staff to apply the city’s matching funds to local events.

Staff explained MRES offers a $1,000 community sponsorship program, which the city matches, and proposed using the combined support for local events. Council members discussed prior recipients (the Crystal Theater) and staff proposed splitting the sponsorship between Friday Bridal and the Missoula Children’s Theatre / children’s program to reach different community audiences.

Alderman Birkey moved to partner with Missouri River Energy Services and split the sponsorship between the Friday Bridal event and the children’s theater program; an alderman seconded and the motion passed. Staff said they would contact MRES promptly so banners, logos and announcements could be prepared for the soon-upcoming Friday Bridal and the August children’s theater program.

Less critical details: staff noted the electric department would cover the city match from its advertising/community-support line and that MRES has previously featured local recipients in its member communications.
