Members of Milford’s Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) outlined two initiatives — an art walk modeled on Meredith and Nashua programs and a restaurant week concept — and invited community members to join working groups to plan the events.
At the May 20 Planning Board meeting staff and EDAC members described Meredith’s program as an example: a juried art walk with roughly two dozen pieces exhibited for about a year, many pieces for sale and some remaining as permanent town installations. EDAC members said the initiative could include rotating outdoor sculptures, gallery‑style displays in downtown businesses, and connections to existing assets such as the rail trail and the historical society’s QR‑code walking tour.
EDAC member Mike Thornton suggested the town could take a modest commission on sales when pieces are sold as a potential revenue stream to support the program. The committee also discussed partnering with the Boys & Girls Club and local restaurants to host a restaurant week event meant to drive foot traffic to downtown businesses.
Community Development Director Camille Pattison encouraged interested residents to review EDAC meeting recordings on the town website and to apply for board or committee involvement via the town’s boards and commissions web pages.
