Gail Coad, who identified herself as the church’s senior warden, told the commission the group has held outdoor services in the park for several years and is part of the local diocese. She described church gatherings as low‑impact events that include music and a small social hour after the service. The church asked to continue the previously granted discounted field rate so it would pay 20% of normal fees; recreation staff confirmed that the same discount has been applied in prior years.
Commissioners approved the waiver by voice vote. Recreation staff reminded organizers that staff do not bill for events that are rained out and asked groups to notify the office when they do not use a reserved time so staff can adjust invoicing. The commission also noted two non‑service events the church expects to hold: a Juneteenth observance in June and an outdoor brunch or picnic in August; staff said those requests will be coordinated under the same 80% waiver if the church provides details and schedules.
The commission did not attach other conditions at the meeting. Staff will finalize billing and scheduling details with the church and confirm any dates needed for the Juneteenth and August gatherings.
