Fred told council the proposed service would supply 12 sets of uniforms per employee, launder them weekly and provide replacement items as needed. He said the vendor quoted approximately $17.05 per employee per week for the full service, which staff estimated would be about $886 per employee per year; staff said the arrangement would remove the need for repeated one-off uniform purchases and would include safety boots and an outer jacket as needed.
Why it matters: staff said the program's per-employee recurring cost could be easier to budget and would ensure consistent safety apparel and signage. Public-works supervisors who attended the meeting said they support the change and want staff to appear professional and to have reliable safety gear.
Next steps: staff will provide the full written quote, the invoicing schedule and a payroll-impact estimate and will return with a recommendation for council approval if the terms are acceptable. No contract was approved at the workshop.
