Fernando Corona, IT manager for the city of San Luis, asked council to approve a purchase of Fortinet network infrastructure equipment through PCS Solutions using a cooperative purchasing contract. Corona described technical changes the purchase would enable, including adding a redundant high‑availability firewall pair to eliminate a single point of failure and installing additional firewalls at the municipal court, Jo Arduno Park and Fire Station No. 2. “This matters because this is practically the backbone of our entire digital operations,” Corona said, noting that billing and collections, finance, public works and the 911 system rely on the city’s network. He added the new equipment includes a three‑year support contract with malware protection and intrusion‑prevention features.
Council member moved to approve the purchase and the motion passed by voice vote. The item was presented, moved and approved during the regular meeting; council did not amend the purchase. No roll‑call vote tally was recorded in the meeting minutes distributed with the transcript.
