The Sioux City Community School District Board of Directors approved plan specifications and an estimated cost of $915,000 for replacement of the elevators at West and East High Schools after a public hearing with no public comments.

Notice of the hearing had been posted for 6 p.m. June 23 at the Educational Service Center. District staff presented the plan specifications prepared by CMBA Architects of Sioux City, Iowa, and asked the board to hear any objections and then act on the plans and estimated cost.

A board member asked whether the project involved replacing original equipment; a staff member replied the elevators are the original units and parts are no longer available, which is the reason for replacement. The board then moved to approve the plans and cost estimate; the motion carried on a voice vote.

No citizens appeared to oppose the project during the hearing. The board approved the item without amendment and moved on to the next agenda items.
