The Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District approved multiple interlocal cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding with regional higher‑education institutions at the July 29 meeting.
Trustees approved an interlocal cooperation contract with the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and approved memoranda of understanding with University of Texas system entities and South Texas College, following staff recommendation and motion to approve. Several motions were made and seconded on the floor and each passed by voice vote.
Board members asked no substantive follow-up questions during the open‑session votes. One trustee asked that the record reflect the name of an endorsed candidate for a task-board director position (Sylvia Sanchez Garza) before voting on a related action item.
The agreements are routine interlocal partnerships that typically support dual-enrollment, workforce development and college access programs; the specific program details were not discussed at length in open session during the votes. Staff said the approvals follow prior facilities and budget committee reviews.
The motions carried by voice vote; the meeting record does not show a roll‑call tally in open session for these items.
