Burleson Independent School District finance staff presented month‑end financials for May during the July 28 meeting and the board approved two requisitions over $25,000.
CFO Brenda Mize reported the district’s general fund revenues were approximately $102 million with expenditures at about $103 million for fiscal 2024–25 through May. Food service revenues and expenditures were roughly $6.9 million and $6.6 million, respectively. Capital projects (oil and gas revenues) show a beginning fund balance of about $14.6 million and May expenditures that include the Mound project. Mize said the district recorded bond‑related fees and payments in May and noted that most capital and special revenue spending will continue through September.
Nut graf: The board also approved two requisitions exceeding $25,000 that were presented at the meeting. District staff noted capital work at Mound and other construction‑phase payments were reflected in the report.
Requisitions and approvals: The board approved requisitions over $25,000 for the vendors listed in the packet, including Sky Ranch and College Park. A motion to approve requisitions over $25,000 passed by board vote.
Construction updates and grants: Mize reported that the clinic project is nearly complete and that the district continues to make scheduled payments. The Mound gym project was also discussed. Staff said the Texas Health Resources (THR) facility noted in the meeting is beginning to move in equipment and prepare for an opening.
Ending: Trustees voted to accept the May financials and approved the requested requisitions. Finance staff will return with further month‑end reports and project updates ahead of the August meeting and the start of school.
