Wichita County Commissioners on July 29 approved renewing the county’s optional health-care services under the indigent health-care program for the next state fiscal year, extending current procedures rather than adding new services.

The commissioners opened discussion on the item that had been moved from the consent agenda and county staff confirmed the renewal is a continuation of existing optional services. Staff said the previous court order was included in the renewal package and that the county must renew the optional services annually to comply with state requirements for the fiscal year.

Commissioner Beauchamp moved to approve the renewal; Commissioner Buchanan seconded the motion. The motion passed 5-0.

County staff did not propose new optional services during the discussion; they said the renewal allows the county to continue its current indigent-health coverage and administrative procedures for the coming state fiscal year.
