Wichita County Commissioners on July 29 approved multiple facility upgrades for county courtrooms and courthouse buildings, including a camera system for the Thirtieth District Court and replacement of exterior doors on the east side of the courthouse.
The court approved a Visionality quote for $19,748.24 to install a camera system and associated wiring and programming in the Thirtieth District Court; commissioners voted 5-0 to pay the expense from the general fund rather than permanent-improvement funds. The vendor’s work includes reprogramming the existing courtroom audio-visual system to permit remote appearances and camera pan-and-tilt functionality while preserving jury privacy.
County staff described the cost as largely labor and system reprogramming; commissioners noted Visionality is the only local vendor able to do the work. Commissioner Beauchamp moved to approve the quote; Commissioner Fincannon seconded the motion.
The court also reviewed and approved quotes to replace exterior doors. After evaluating bids, the commissioners approved Brazos Window and Door’s combined bid of $27,189.97 to replace glass and doors on the courthouse east and west entryways; that contract will be paid from the county’s permanent-improvement fund. Commissioners and staff discussed scheduling, stock availability and compatibility with the county’s security and card-access systems. The vendor indicated some doors were in stock and could be installed within weeks; staff said temporary measures would secure openings during work.
Finally, staff provided a brief update on courthouse renovation and annex work: the Iowa Park project is near completion with a forecast of total completion in about two weeks, finishing work includes cabinet and countertop installation, driveway approach pouring and communication-tower work. Commissioners discussed coordinating street overlay and related paving activity in nearby city-managed areas to reduce duplication of effort.
All facility-related motions passed unanimously 5-0.
