County engineer to apply to OPWC for five road projects totaling roughly $3.6 million in estimates

County staff and commissioners said the county’s new $5 license-plate fee — passed earlier in the year and beginning to be collected next year — will improve the county’s ability to meet local match requirements for OPWC applications. Commissioners said projects that already have NOACA or CEao safety funding are competitive for OPWC funding.
Action: Motion to authorize the engineer to submit the OPWC funding applications passed unanimously.
Why it matters: If awarded, OPWC and matching funds would finance resurfacing and safety improvements for several county roads; projects with federal or regional funding components (NOACA) were noted as strong candidates for combined funding.
