The Lorain County Board of Commissioners on July 29 approved a $317,743 transfer from the Public Assistance fund (PA Fund) to the Child Support Enforcement Agency (CSEA) fund. The transfer was requested by the director of Job and Family Services to use discretionary state public-assistance funds for allowable CSEA activities.
Chris Cabot, director of Job and Family Services, told commissioners the funds would support programs to assist noncustodial parents with job search and employment stability, financial-assistance programs, assistance in modifying child-support orders, and services to help obligors navigate the child-support enforcement process and courts. Cabot said the funds are discretionary from the state and would be lost if not reallocated to an area with immediate need.
Action: Commissioners voted to approve the transfer; the motion passed unanimously.
