Board approves $14,340 surface-course change order for Oaks of Jackson; cost covers sidewalks and ADA ramps

The Board of Public Works approved change order number 1 for the Oaks of Jackson surface-course project with an increase of $14,340 and recommended forwarding the item for payment. Trustee Engelhardt moved to approve the change order; Trustee Sandebeck seconded the motion, which carried on a voice vote. Public-works staff explained the change order is for concrete work: sidewalk squares, ADA-compliant ramps at the Ridgeway and Spruce intersection, and one section of curb. Staff said that when they inspected the Oaks of Jackson with representatives of Harbor Homes and Hillcrest Builders they determined which party was responsible for damage and that the builders had agreed to take responsibility for areas they damaged. Staff said the sidewalk squares affected by this proposal are along Spruce Street, where construction has not yet occurred. No further conditions or amendments were recorded at the meeting.
