The calendar covers state‑required standardized assessments and district assessments and is intended to meet the requirements of Florida Statute 1008.22, which directs districts to publish and submit assessment schedules by Oct. 1.
Simmons said the state prepopulates sections 1–4 of the uniform calendar with state assessment dates and glossary language; the district fills section 5 with required district assessments (benchmarks, diagnostics, readiness checks). He showed estimated testing time by grade and said the district remains under the statutory limit that no more than 5% of a student’s total instructional hours be used for state or district assessments.
Notable changes in the district estimates for 2025–26 include the addition of a gifted screener in grade 1, a district science assessment in grade 4, grade 7 science benchmark readiness checks, and quarterly middle/high school math assessments. Simmons noted the calendar allows the superintendent to make adjustments during the year if necessary and said staff would present the calendar for board action on Aug. 5; if approved, the calendar will be posted on the district website and submitted to the Department of Education by Oct. 1.
Board members asked a scheduling question about IB/ACE exams and Simmons confirmed those are separate from the uniform calendar and would not conflict with the district‑mandated testing windows.
