Superintendent‑level presenter Dr. Block told the board the policy “is basically, strictly states the requirements that are issued by law” and recommended approval so teachers and staff would have clear direction as school begins.
Trustee Krista moved to approve the revisions “as presented and recommended,” and Trustee Terry seconded. There was no additional discussion and the motion passed unanimously.
The adopted revisions reflect legislative changes discussed by administration and do not, in themselves, expand district discretion beyond what the statute requires. The board’s action was procedural and intended to ensure the district’s personnel and classroom policies match current state mandates as interpreted by district counsel and administration.
Administrators said they brought the revision at this time to make sure policies are in place before teachers return. Staff will notify campuses and post the revised policy per standard district procedures.
