Representatives of the Texas Film Commission presented certificates at the July 28 meeting formally recognizing Paris as both a Film Friendly Texas community and a Digital Media Friendly Texas community. Matt Miller, the commission’s digital media production consultant, said Paris joins more than 200 communities in the Film Friendly program and is the fourth community to receive the digital-media designation.
The commission thanked John McFadden for acting as the city’s film and digital-media liaison and recognized local community members who participated on a digital-media committee. Miller described the state commission’s role promoting film, television, commercial and digital-media production—such as animation, visual effects and video-game industries—and cited statewide economic impact figures from 2007–2024.
City officials noted that Paris also could pursue designations for tourism and music friendliness and encouraged further pursuit of complementary certifications. The council took no formal regulatory action; the presentation was an economic-development recognition and an offer of partnership and training resources from the state.
(Ending) City staff said the designations create marketing opportunities and potential connections for production work in Paris, and that McFadden will continue as the local liaison for film and digital-media outreach.
