The Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted 6-0 to surplus 58 firearms seized during police investigations and to accept a $7,415 in-store credit from the buyer, to be used for optics and ammunition for the department’s issued weapons. City staff said the firearms were confiscated through investigations and patrol activity; the credit will be used to obtain equipment and supplies for department-issued firearms. The city received competing offers and staff recommended the buyer that provided the in-store credit arrangement. The board thanked police staff — including Lieutenant Henderson, who handles much of the processing — and recorded the unanimous vote to surplus the weapons and accept the credit.
