The San Felipe del Rio CISD Board of Trustees on July 28 approved multiple personnel actions, including position conversions, an updated appraisal calendar, an updated compensation plan as discussed in closed session, and a list of new hires for the 2025-26 school year.
Administration requested conversion of a counselor position to an assistant principal at Blended Academy; "it is the recommendation of the administration that the board of trustees approve the conversion of a counselor to an assistant principal at Blended Academy," presenter Amy Childress said. The board approved the conversion by motion.
During the meeting the board also approved an updated 2025-26 appraisal calendar. Childress presented the calendar and said observations may begin Sept. 3, 2025, and must be completed by May 7, 2026. The board approved the calendar by motion.
In closed session the board discussed compensation-plan items and site-coordinator decisions related to the 21st Century grant; following closed session trustees approved the updated 2025-26 District Compensation Plan consistent with closed-session decisions and authorized administration to finalize written changes.
The board approved a personnel report listing the following new hires for the coming school year (as read into the record): Kathleen Smith (5th grade, Buena Vista Elementary), Sean Fennessy (special education, Buena Vista Elementary), Mariah Winfrey (ELA, New Tech at San Felipe Memorial Middle School), Amanda Curtis (biology, Del Rio Freshman School), Karina Santos (art facilitator, San Felipe Memorial Middle School), Christa Sal Rivera (health Spanish teacher, Student Guidance and Learning Center), Jasmine Islas (pre-K bilingual, Irene Cardwell Head Start), Reyna Riojas (3rd grade, Lamar Elementary), Joanna Baca (art teacher, Ruben Chavita Elementary), Audrey Adeola (science teacher, Del Rio High School) and Robert Torres (special education behavior unit, Del Rio Middle School). The board approved the personnel report by motion.
Trustees also approved the conversion of a vacant ACE director position to district school improvement director and approved associated job descriptions and evaluation forms. The board tabled one site-coordinator action (18B) for separate handling.
Several certification waiver applications (TA waivers) discussed in closed session were approved for submission. The motions on all personnel and conversion items were approved by the board at the meeting.
