Board approves four new Path College Career courses at Del Rio Early College HS

The San Felipe del Rio CISD Board of Trustees on July 28 approved four new innovative courses — Path College Career 1, 2, 3 and 4 — for Del Rio Early College High School for the 2025-26 school year.
Jane Villarreal presented the request, saying the Path College Career sequence is on the state—s list of approved innovative courses and that districts must obtain board approval to offer such courses. "Students enrolled in this course or these courses will be able to learn earn a local credit, for each of the course that is completed," Villarreal said, noting the courses are designed to develop academic, interpersonal and cognitive skills to prepare students for college and the workplace.
The administration recommended approval and the board voted to adopt the courses for the coming school year. The courses will be used to meet state elective-credit requirements and are not approved to meet other graduation requirements unless specified in course implementation documents.
