Board recognizes Val Verde County extension agents as adjunct faculty for 4-H activities

The San Felipe del Rio CISD Board of Trustees on July 28 approved an adjunct faculty agreement and resolution recognizing Val Verde County extension agents as adjunct staff for 4-H extension educational activities.
Jane Villarreal presented the item, explaining the agreement allows public-school students to be counted in attendance for foundation school program purposes when participating in off-campus 4-H activities supervised by county extension agents recognized as adjunct staff. Villarreal said the county requested adjunct status for two extension agents for the 2025-26 school year: Tommy Eder and Elena Pickhint; both were described as eligible for participation in the Teacher Retirement System and as holding at least a bachelor's degree.
When Board President Mesa asked who pays the adjunct faculty, a district staff member replied, "Mister Mesa, they are either employees or volunteers. We don't pay anything. Right." The board then approved the recommendation; a motion was made and the motion carried.
The resolution and adjunct faculty agreement were signed by the superintendent and the board president as requested in the administration recommendation.
