Board approves $1.82 million continuation application for 21st Century program

The San Felipe del Rio CISD Board of Trustees on July 28 approved submission of a Cycle 12, Year 3 continuation application for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers program totaling $1,818,616.
Jane Villarreal told trustees the district is in its third year implementing the 21st Century ACE grant. "Students enrolled at Dr. Lonnie Green, Dr. Filming Calderon, Ruben Chavita, Lamar Elementary, along with the 3 middle schools ... are eligible to participate in this after school and summer program," Villarreal said, describing the program's academic interventions, enrichment and family supports.
The recommendation to approve the submittal for $1,818,616 was presented and the board voted to authorize the application. Michelle Maraz moved approval and Mrs. Webb seconded; the motion carried.
The funding would continue to support after-school and summer services at the named elementary and middle schools for the 2025-26 school year, per the application presented to the board.
