Go Green Team schedules countywide electronics recycling event for Sept. 13 at fairgrounds

Representatives of the Story County Go Green Team told the board on July 29 they will hold a countywide electronics recycling event open to the public on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will take place at the Story County Fairgrounds sheep barn and will be run with vendor Electronic Asset Security of Urbandale.
Go Green Team members said the vendor will accept a list of electronics items (a published list will note items accepted and not accepted) and that some items may carry a disposal fee; the county and Go Green Team will not handle fee collection—the vendor will. The fairgrounds sheep barn was selected to provide shelter in case of inclement weather. The team intends to promote the event with a press release, website calendar listing, social media, radio and printed flyers distributed to towns across the county.
Board members thanked the group and suggested minor corrections to promotional materials; no board action was required.
